SPORTSAID STARS SET TO SHINE AT BIRMINGHAM 2022 COMMONWEALTH GAMES

The Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games get underway tomorrow (28 July) with SportsAid recipients set to represent England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, Guernsey, Isle of Man and Jersey across 11 days of jam-packed sporting action! A total of 474 athletes who have received backing from the charity, including 48 current awardees, will be looking to bring home medals for their respective nations and territories.

182 of those athletes have had help from SportsAid since the Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast four years ago. The overall figure also features 121 beneficiaries of the Talented Athlete Scholarship Scheme (TASS) and 29 from the Backing The Best programme. TASS helps athletes (aged 16-plus) balance sport within the rest of their lives, be this in education, training or another form of personal development, and Backing The Best is designed to support sports stars facing the greatest financial pressure. Both are managed by SportsAid.

Here’s the list of SportsAid beneficiaries (current awardees are indicated by **) who will be competing at the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games….
