Anna Hemmings is Britain’s most successful female marathon kayaker with a staggering 11 World and European Championship medals, 9 of them gold.
On 18th November Anna enthralled guests at the St Albans SportsAid lunch with her story so far, about how at the age of 24 she was already World Champion 3 times and had competed at an Olympics Games.
At the peak of her career Anna was diagnosed with chronic fatigue syndrome and was told by medics she may never race again. Nothing could hold Anna back; she went on to win a further 3 world titles and compete in her second Olympic Games in Beijing.
Anna presented Max Jorge, another courageous sportsman, with his St Albans SportsAid award with his achievements so far in snowboarding.
Thanks were given to the sponsor Rayner Essex LLP for organising the event and to Sherrards; Conical; Lumin Wealth Management and FRP Advisory for continuing to support SportsAid in St Albans and a special thanks to the OAs for hosting and to the catering team.
