My Story
On 25/26 March I travelled to Gloucester to compete in the National age Groups Artistic Swimming Championships. I competed on behalf of my home club Aqualina but we performed the routines that were put together by Great Britain as preparation for World’s in August. My Mixed duet partner for GB is also from my club so we get to practice in our club time as well as the monthly camps we have in Bristol. At this competition males and females compete together, there are not separate categories like at international competitions. There were 127 swimmers taking part in figures and you had to come in the top 12 to qualify to swim a solo. I came 5th in my figures which is my best position yet and improved my figure score by 3 points on last year. I qualified to swim my solo for the first time and came 7th overall which i was pleased about considering I was the only male in a female dominated sport so i was the best male in the UK in the 13-16 category. I then competed in Mixed duet in the 13-16 category and came first beating the other mixed duet by 13 points and beating last years score by 8 points.
On 22/23 April I travelled to Nottingham to the National Junior/Senior Artistic Swimming Championships where i competed in Mixed Duet and in the free Team as part of Aqualina. We won the mixed duet for both the Junior and overall title age 15 plus.
I will update you later in the year on my performance at Worlds.
