On Friday 3rd March we were delighted to welcome Beth Tweddle, Olympic gymnast, to SportsAid’s first lunch of the 2023 season. Beth presented SportsAid athlete, Ben Mead, with his award – pictured here with trustee and sponsor Adam Bradley.
On receiving his award Ben wrote the following message:
I would like to thank you and the Cambridge SportsAid Lunch Club for your overwhelming support and generosity. In particular, Trevor and Joan were very welcoming. Sitting next to Beth Tweddle, one of the greatest GB athletes, in a room surrounded by people rooting for me was an incredible experience and I am extremely grateful. I would never have dreamed a year ago that I would be in the situation I am today and that is due to the amazing support from my rowing club Cambridge 99, my coach Pere Gisbert, my parents and now you. As I continue to move toward my dream, you have inspired me with your kind donation to continue to push my performance, to use better equipment and to attend competitions better prepared and more confident than ever before.
